This book should be must reading by every American. We vaguely know that Indians inhabited this land long before any of our ancestors even knew it existed. But we sure don't know much, if anything about the noble Cherokees. Remarkably the author is not a trained historian, but an interested pediatrician. The detail and historical documentation is fascinating. I can't say enough good things about this treasure and highly recommend it.

What I found interesting was the fact that Native Americans had been fighting each other long before the Pilgrims came to the United States. Most American histories start with the early settlers and do not take in account what is going on with the Native Americans. I found this book to be very detailed in this area. The author has done what American history books fail to do and then some.

Some good things, but not enough

This is a pretty quick read. I was more interested in the plot and events than the relationship. Characters were ok, but it left you wanting to know a bit more. Drake was the best character. Plot kept me going, but there were a lot of scenes that left me wanting more detail and the ending just felt like an easy way out. So much potential for angst wasted imo.

And this is a minor pet peeve, but if you're going to invent a fictional government agency, don't give it the same acronym as a well known government agency. As far as I'm concerned. Slate and Drake work for the Food and Drug Administration. And the Food and Drug Administration deals with vampires.

Come Back to Me features a really cool idea, but the execution didn't grab me as much as I'd hoped it would. I really sympathized with heartbroken Mikel. I could also understand why the honorable Slate felt it best to stay away from Mikel. Their reunion was sweet, and the secret Slate kept suitably horrific--if predictable. My problem with the story was that once the secret was revealed, things began to seem a bit less believable. Granted, it's a paranormal so I had to suspend disbelief, but Mikel and Slate's actions, while romantic, sometimes weren't the best choices in my opinion. The last section of the book was very emotional, but the ending felt rushed. As a romantic paranormal escape, Come Back to Me is entertaining, but not always realistic.

The Classic Series

The "Perry Mason" series lasted for nine seasons, a record for that era. Out of 271 episodes 120 were selected for publishing as VHS tapes. Later there was a four volume series of 27 DVD discs, but only 108 of the 120 were republished. These items are out of production and very limited. The complete seasons are being slowly republished for fans. The best episodes were adapted from the original novels (or another author as in "The Spanish Cross").
